In response to requests from members of the public, Marlborough Area Board’s next meeting will be themed on making ourselves aware of scams and rogue traders. With more opportunities for us to be tricked out of money, especially on-line, this meeting will help to protect people against these different forms of trickery.
As well as the usual agenda items, we have Wiltshire Council’s Trading Standards team coming to deliver their Friends Against Scams awareness session. This detailed guidance is designed to inspire action, highlight the scale of the problem, change the perceptions of why people fall for scams and make scams a community, regional and national topic. By attending a Friends Against Scams awareness session, anyone can learn about the different types of scams and how to spot and support a victim.
We will also have Caroline Gray, Community Banker from NatWest to give guidance particularly against on-line scams and what to be aware of.
The meeting takes place on Tuesday 15th May in Marlborough Town Hall and is open to everyone. It starts at 7.00pm and there is tea, coffee and networking from 6.30pm.
